About Us
Thanks for visiting Narbars Candles and wanting to know a bit about us. Below we have tried to highlight a few things to help you get to know us and our company. Narbars Candle Co was started for many different reasons, but it was founded on a simple principle: To be a family-run business of hand poured premium quality candles and other products at fair and affordable prices.
When it comes to candles, there is no shortage of options. We know that. And so first I want to thank you for checking us out and giving us a try!
We want to make a product we are proud of, customers are proud of, better quality, individually tested, and affordable. Can you sometimes spend a bit more in local smaller businesses? Yep. Is it worth it? For sure!
Who doesn’t love to support small businesses run by the same people who have a stake in its success and have personal involvement day to day.
So, let’s break this down a bit…
What makes our products wonderful?
Here are a few reasons:
- We use amazing premium ingredients.
- Each candle is hand poured.
- Our process is very precise and carefully managed and we work in small batches to protect that integrity.
- We offer multiple collections and variations to suit different interests and styles.
- We have a passion for what we do and it’s very family oriented.
- We test rigorously to ensure we maintain our high quality standards.
Seriously, we know you will love our candles! :)
So who are we?
My name is Natalie Rumbuc and I am the daughter of Josh Rumbuc, the founder of this amazing business. I am doing all of the marketing and organizing of our pouring room. I am learning how to run the business as a whole right now. Dad has been a huge help in explaining how to do some of the things I don't know how to do yet. Personally my favorite part of now owning a business is being able to personalize every item that gets shipped out as well as meeting/talking to some very wonderful people. Another influential person on this journey has been Shauna from Sozo Essentials. I attended a business class that she put on, which was a tremendous help! With these two wonderful people helping me, I believe this business will be a success!-Natalie
How and why did we get started?
The question of how we got started is a little more obvious to answer. Really, it started years ago as I have always been one for home-made crafts and products. I cant remember exactly what made me so interested in candles other than I love the varieties, the scents, the colors, and so on. I think what was driving me the most was the challenge. Candle making, contrary to what I first believed, is NOT an easy process. Its easy to think one could simply stop by a hobby store, pick up some wax, a few colors and fragrances, and a wick spool then head home to create marvelous candles. Yah...no. Doesn't quite work that way. For starters, those are very poor ingredients and materials. The best candle makers in the world will get poor results. But, its not just about the materials.. its also the recipes. It takes a LOT of experimenting, testing, troubleshooting, tweaking, and then all of that again, over... and over... to really make a great recipe. And it takes time. Compare it to baking for a minute. Yes, baking includes recipes and the quality of ingredients really matter as well. The difference is... once you are done baking, it's not long before you can "test" (taste) your finished result. It's near instant verification. With candle making.... not the case at all. To test your results, you have to wait days or weeks to accurately test as it takes time for blending and curing. Rushing that timeline will yield inaccurate feedback.
But WAIT, there's more! Its not just about the recipe, or the ingredients... it's also about the process! Candle making is a very delicate process that requires very specific temperature control, measuring, blending, pouring, and cooling. If even ONE of these processes is taken for granted, you often will get very noticeable negative results. This is the one of the reasons so many people prefer hand-poured during the pouring process. Because it's completely controlled and being intently watched. If something isn't right, the person doing the pouring knows right away. Compare to large scale manufacturing, where there isn't that control over individual units and many things go unnoticed.
Okay, so I fibbed a little. I guess the "How we got started" ended up taking much more to explain than I initially suggested. It was really about the challenge combined with just loving candles.-Josh
So now there's the "Why?".
Well, I sort of partly answered that already. But, more specifically, why Narbars Candlers? I've always had a full time career which is great! I've also always wanted to have something else of my very own. Something I could share with my kids... my family. Something that could provide additional security for my kids as they grow up. I wanted to build a business that has the potential to provide an opportunity for my daughters as a career or just something to be a part of in their future if they wanted. That is, and always will be, the most important thing to me in my life. I am hoping Narbars Candles can be that something. Narbars Candles, for us, fulfills that desire nearly everyone has; Loving what we do AND loving why we do it.-Josh
